Mind Over Matter for Black and African American Women: A Single Arm Trial Examining Feasibility and Acceptability of a Supportive Intervention

Managing cancer is hard. Strong, difficult feelings are normal and are part of every life. And, strong feelings are certainly part of a life lived with cancer. You can learn tools to help yourself cope. Research has shown that Black and African American cancer survivors may have higher levels of distress.

Inova Life with Cancer has developed a program called Mind Over Matter (MOM) which is designed to teach coping skills to participants to help manage the feelings and side effects associated with an experience of cancer, including diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. This study will explore if MOM is acceptable to Black and African American women who have received a cancer diagnosis and have completed primary treatment. The feedback that is gained from this study will help guide the future development and improvement of MOM.

Phase III, Open-Label, Randomised Study to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of Extended Therapy with Camizestrant (AZD9833, a Next Generation, Oral Selective Estrogen Receptor Degrader) versus Standard Endocrine Therapy (Aromatase Inhibitor or Tamoxifen) in Patients with ER+/HER2- Early Breast Cancer and an Intermediate or High Risk of Recurrence Who Have Completed Definitive Locoregional Therapy and at Least 2 Years of Standard Adjuvant Endocrine-Based Therapy Without Disease Recurrence

The purpose of this research study is to see if camizestrant is safe and effective for the treatment of your condition. The researchers want to confirm the right dose levels of camizestrant and find out what effects (good and bad) camizestrant has on you and your condition. This study involves an investigational drug that has not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
We want to see if extended therapy with camizestrant is better at preventing disease recurrence (disease that comes back) than continuation of standard endocrine therapy (letrozole, anastrozole, exemestane or tamoxifen, the drugs that you and other patients with early ER+/HER2- breast cancer are currently receiving) and also to better understand the studied disease and associated health problems.
